After your insemination, we will create an account based on the treatment that you had. We will submit an online claim to Medicare stating that you have paid the account in full. They will then send you a cheque with your rebate, or deposit it into your bank account (so it is a good idea to update your bank details are registered and correct).
Please ensure that you inform us if your Medicare number changes since commencing your treatment, so as to avoid any delays in processing your rebate.
We will submit your claim within one week of your insemination. From this point, it will take about 7 days for Medicare to deposit the money into your account (providing your bank details are registered and correct); however, if your bank details aren’t registered/correct, then Medicare will issue you with a cheque - in which case it can take up to 4 weeks for you to receive your rebate.
No, you do not need Private Health Insurance to have assisted insemination as Medicare covers most of the cost of this treatment. Private Health Insurance will not cover the cost of this treatment.
Sometimes your cycle may need to be cancelled for medical reasons, this is at the discretion of the nurses in consultation with the specialist.
If your cycle is cancelled, we will need to charge you a fee of $650 to cover the time we spent with you and for any tests that you had. We will then give you a receipt to take to Medicare, to claim your refund of approximately $480.
If you are lucky enough to have this happen (it does happen!) we will give you a full refund and wish you the best of luck for your pregnancy.
Please phone 02 6175 9000 and we will be happy to answer any questions that you might have.
