Changes to the Medicare safety net took effect on 1 January 2010. Most rebates for treatments including IVF and Assisted insemination are now “capped”.
The only treatment that is under the safety net rebate is a frozen embryo transfer. Once you spend over $1126 in a calendar year on medical costs, Medicare will rebate a portion of your out of pocket costs. Please phone Medicare to gain an estimate on your rebate as it is calculated based on your treatment and personal circumstances.
All you need to do is to register your family for the safety net. We provide you with this paperwork at your initial appointment.
