Our embryologists are highly trained scientists who specialise in the management of very early pregnancy prior to implantation in the uterus. After fertilisation, the embryos start growing until they are suitable to be returned to their mother. Their care is a highly specialised area of science requiring years of training, accreditation, tertiary education and quality assurance.

The laboratory is specially designed with air conditioning, scientific quality air filters, piped O2, C02 and nitrogen gas mixes and has incubators, specifically designed for optimum growth of your embryos. Alarms secure the premises and monitor incubators and storage tanks 24 hours a day. The uninterruptable power supply ensures that if the mains power cuts out that power continues. Our embryologists manage your embryos in a temperature controlled environment using a specialised media in which your embryos are cultured up to day 5 blastocyst. This media has been developed over many years to ensure that it is the exact ideal mix to enhance their healthy growth. We ensure that they are growing normally and assist in the choice of which embryos to return to the mother at a “fresh” transfer. Only healthy embryos are frozen for future use.

After the best embryo is chosen, to be placed in the mother, extra good quality embryos are snap frozen (vitrified) and stored in liquid nitrogen in labelled straws for later use.
